Trouble using the Forums?

Several users have reported that when they try to use the Forums (for example, when they try to register), they get a nasty error message that reads like this:

We cannot process this request currently. You may also receive this message if you are attempting to hack our forum. Your IP number (99.999.99.99) has been logged.

(The actual number in parentheses will vary.) Assuming you are not actually trying to hack the forum, here's what is happening. The Forums work through a "script" program that sometimes needs to know what page you were last viewing. For instance, when you fill out the form to register, and then click the "Submit" button, the program needs to know what form is sending it instructions. If you see the above message, the program is not getting that information.

This situation is probably caused by a program on your computer that hides your internet browsing history. Norton Internet Security is one such program. While such security is in most cases highly to be recommended, if you are getting the error message above and want to use the Forums, you will have to turn off that security feature temporarily. (Norton Internet Security makes this easy to do; click on "Privacy Control" to disable it. Other security programs will have similar ways to do this.) Don't forget to turn it back on after you leave the Forums.

All Bulletin Boards (or "Forums") on pvspade.com are now powered by Ultimate Bulletin Board. Here's how it works:
